A bunch of thoroughly vicious people seem to have decided that because the McCanns made an incredibly stupid decision about child care (though I suspect many others have done the same and got away with it), they now deserved to be vilified as killers.
The actual inquiry found no evidence to support this.
Every bit of "evidence" that ghouls on here think the Portuguese GA somehow "missed" collapses under a few minutes' scrutiny.
Eg. The McCanns did not fail to join in the search for their daughter. The question they were asked in that TV interview was about the period *after* the first night.
The dogs did *not* alert except in the opinion of their handler. This is not evidence, it's intelligence, which was followed up, and yielded nothing.
And so on.
Everything ghouls take issue with about the McCanns flows from this. If someone abducted my daughter and the police started investigating me, I would withdraw co-operation too. The police have serious form, when they can't find the real killer, in framing the easiest suspect instead. British police framed the Birmingham Six, the Guildford Four, Stefan Kiszko, Barry Bulsara, Colin Stagg.
Such an investigation is not going to find any killer. Amaral is a proven perjurer and had form in extracting a confession under duress from a mother for killing her daughter. She later retracted it and the brother was found guilty.
Meanwhile, there are people who think that parents who killed their daughter would for some reason devote the rest of their lives to reducing their chances of getting away with it - by keeping her in the spotlight. Once the investigations ended, if they had killed her, they would have got away with it. Why didn't they just fade away?
On the side of the McCanns' innocence are the conclusions reached by the authorities. They didn't say "there's evidence but we can't prove it". They said there was
no evidence.
Against them are a lying police officer and a bunch of internet ghouls who all think they know better.
Think, think, think. Think of the harm you are doing. Think of the effect of this nasty little campaign. If successful, all you can do is to make people stop looking for a little girl who may just possibly still be alive somewhere. But - and this is even worse - it would also mean that whoever did this will be left free to do it again. Rene Hasee - taken from the same area 10 years before. Did the McCanns kill him too?
Whoever did this is out there still. Where does he live? Has he moved? Who is he watching? What is he doing right now?
This is not a joke or an internet sport. There are about 20 of you. There are 300+ people who liked Kate McCann's book. You are a tiny minority but you are not cleverer than everyone else and you are most certainly not harmless.
